This adventure starts at the expedition center where we will go through a general briefing and organize the necessary equipment. We then board a boat that will take us for a 15 minute ride to the mouth of River León. We begin with a saftey check of our equipment and a technical safety talk on the beach. Then we’ll embark on our ascent through the crystal clear waters of this steep and exciting canyon. Our goal is to reach the “Pozon” an enormous pool fed by a stunning 40-meter waterfall.
To reach our goal, we will negotiate various obstacles: climbing waterfalls, jumping into pools and swimming against the current. The backdrop of our adventure is a spectacular natural setting with beautiful native fauna and flora typical to the Valdivian Forest.
If the ascent was exciting, the descent is even more adventurous. You will be jumping into river pools, rappelling across a waterfall, and floating downriver to the mouth of the León River. Here we will relax and enjoy a well-deserved picnic lunch before we head back on the boat to Petrohué.
